Qué harás

*Covid-19 status 28 July 2021*: The walk is available for booking, and group sizes will remain small, at 6 maximum, and we will continue to follow any hygiene and social distancing guidance.

Go off-path to discover the incredible hidden and forgotten culture, history and ecology of this special spot in the Cairngorms National Park. This more adventurous guided adventure over 3.5-4 hours will include foraging and brewing our own wild tea.

We'll explore the woods and hills finding ruins, plants and trees and their folklore, hidden waterfalls, stunning views, and plenty of untold stories along the way.

We'll forage for our own wild tea, light a twig stove and brew the tea fresh when we reach the main falls in an old woodland of Scots pines, where you'll have a bit of time exploring on your own.

Along the way we'll discover stories of fairy folk, witches and local characters... and perhaps a Gaelic song or two.

Suitable for all ages, but a good level of fitness is required.

Other things to note:
Dogs are allowed but only if others booked onto the same walk are okay with this. Please let me know in advance.

I am a mountain lover and quiet explorer. I've been sharing my love and knowledge of the history, ecology and culture of this area of the Scottish Highlands for the past four years, creating walking trails, leading short walks, and hosting a 'Highland Tea Chest' foraged drinks stall at events.

Walking the mountains here led me to begin learning Scottish Gaelic, which in turn opened up a whole world of stories and songs linked to places and communities, some of which I share during the walks.

The walks share my interest in finding forgotten stories and narratives in a place, and exploring hidden places in our amazing local landscape.

I am currently working towards my Hill & Moorland Leader qualification, and hold an Outdoor Emergency First Aid qualification (2020).

Donde estarás

The walk starts from Aviemore (location will be shared on booking), and is around 4 miles (7km) long up fairly steep ground.

We'll take informal, narrow woodland footpaths uphill which are uneven underfoot (tree roots, mud, rocks); deer tracks; sometimes leaving the paths; and wider, well-surfaced trails on the return downhill.

A good level of fitness is required.

It is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs.
