This is a unique birdwatching experience guided by an ecologist, where we will search for the beautiful but elusive Rainbow Pitta. We will walk through Howard Springs Nature Reserve, an easily accessible rainforest pocket known to be the home of the amazing Rainbow Pitta. During this easy and barrier free walk we will also discover and look at many other bird species, interesting plants and other wildlife. At the end of the walk I will show you how to contribute our observations to the global citizen science project eBird.
You will learn about the ecology and history of this top end rainforest pocket and nature reserve. You are highly likely to spot the elusive rainbow pitta, one of the most beautiful birds in Australia's top end (however, sightings are not guaranteed as these are wild animals).

I am an ecologist and have worked as an environmental consultant, park ranger and national park planner in the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region of WA for the past 13 years. Birdwatching has become more and more of a passion during my time in Australia because there are so many of these fascinating creatures around that I wanted to know everything about them. After spending many years birdwatching with my wife I am happy to be able to share my knowledge with more people through Airbnb experiences. I am also hosting the Discover Top End birdwatching experience at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens as an Airbnb experience.
