Qué harás

Hi There! Come for a snowy mountain snowshoe and have hot chocolate, tea or coffee with outrageous views of the Hudson Valley below.

We'll meet in Minnewaska State Park at 9:30 am and set off on beautiful rolling trail to our destination: a wild promontory above a 400 ft cliff band (one of the tallest cliffs on the East Coast). After hot drinks, snacks and photos, we'll traverse along the cliff (at a safe distance) for more views before completing the loop back to the cars. I'll take photos the whole time and airdrop or email them to you at the end.

The hike is an adventurous 6 miles and can be quite icy. I will provide Micro Spikes or snowshoes (depending on snow conditions) and trekking poles. You'll need to bring warm clothing, a small backpack, good hiking boots, and an adventurous spirit. We'll go regardless of weather so be ready for whatever conditions we'll find.

We'll be back to the cars by 3 pm with a ton of gorgeous photos and memories and laughs, and likely a ton of exhaustion too . Look forward to meeting you.

Hi, I'm Jack. I have 9 years of experience guiding backcountry trips around Alaska and North America. I've traveled over 25,000 miles by bike, sea kayak, foot, raft, and skis, become the youngest person to solo Denali and put up first ascents on 6,000 meter peaks in the Himalayas. I call Alaska home, but i'm currently based in New York (and have spent over 2 decades exploring the catskill mountains). I love sharing wild places with people for any amount of time. Cliche as it may be, of all the beautiful places I've been, I remember most the time spent with great people.

I have extensive professional training: i'm a wilderness first responder (medical training), a certified wilderness Search and Rescue professional, and a trained rock guide through the AMGA. Fun and safety will be top priorities. Excited to meet you!

Jack was so friendly and down to earth. Has all types of stories and experiences in regards to hiking and in life. Made me and my girlfriend feel safe the entire hike. Would recommend him to anyone that’s a beginner in hiking. 10/10

Jack was a great guide! He was easy to talk to and, as we went as a couple, gave us some nice space here and there to enjoy the hike a little bit together. Jack was super chill and easy to talk to and took us on a hike that was just right for us.

So what all of these reviews don't say explicitly is that Jack, aside from his expertise and long history of being a trusted outdoor guide, is a fantastic conversationalist. He was curious, funny, and respectful as we each got to know each other on this 5-hour journey and fostered an encouraging and open environment as we explored some breathtaking views. In his stories, anecdotes, and commentary, I feel like I learned a lot about snow hikes and feel confident about trying my own shorter hike with spikes in the future. This is really a fantastic hike and I encourage you all to go out and explore as well as have a great time! My partner and I are certainly considering an adventure with Jack again :)

Jack provided us with an incredible experience. He shared amazing stories and has a great attitude. Super personable. Shared a lot of laughs! We also had another couple in the group. He ensure we maintained Covid-19 guidelines all while still bringing us together. We left here with an amazing experience, some breathtaking views and pictures, some more friends, and pretty sweet playlist to listen to.

HI JACK!!!!! Jack was amazing!!! Despite we got lost on the way which made us to be very late (PLEASE DON'T BE LATE!) and had to be back by a certain time, he was very accommodating and understanding. Because of the time constraint, Jack guided us to the route that even Jack has never tried before and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. I've never done snowshoeing before so everything was exhilarating and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. Jack blended in with our group so well, he almost felt like one of us! Lastly and most importantly, Jack was very conscious of the COVID restrictions and he kept his mask on if not kept his distance. Thank you for the effort Jack! We'll always miss the 30 sec of silence while listening to the nature and sipping on Jack's world's best hot chocolate. He also takes pictures for you so you wouldn't have to. This might sound trivial, but you will appreciate a lot. I'd highly recommend to anyone who has never done snowshoeing before.
