How much do you know about Balsamic Vinegar of Modena? As I represent the 4th generation of my family business, I'd love to share all my knowledge about Balsamic with you.
Our company was founded in 1891 and we are one of the most ancient producers of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. When you are about to enter our acetaia (i.e. vinegar cellar), you will be captured by the Balsamic scent and, during your tour, you will see the actual production site of such a precious and estimated product.
I'll introduce my family to you, starting from the 1st generation until the 5th. I'll narrate the milestones that my family achieved across the years and I'll teach you the differences between the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (DOP) and the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (IGP). During the guided tour you will learn the phases of the production process of both products and you will see the wood barrels of different sizes in which the products mature and age.
Have you ever seen a wood barrel from XIX century still in use? Have you ever tasted a Balsamic Vinegar aged more than 25 years?
At the end of the tour, you'll taste three varieties of Balsamic and you'll be guided for discovering all the organoleptic features of our ‘black gold’.
Before going home, you could also have the chance to buy a bottle of authentic Balsamic Vinegar of Modena!

I represent the fourth generation of my family business, Aceto Balsamico del Duca, and I am the owner of one of the oldest companies producing Balsamic Vinegar of Modena.
My team and I love sharing knowledge about our products and teaching people some secrets about the production and the history of our beloved “black gold”.
We love meeting people of different nationalities but also from different parts of Italy, who are curios and interested in discovering more about the product that better represent our land, Modena.

Donde estarás

Our old 'acetaia' (vinegar factory) is located in an ancient brick-kiln built approximately in 1600, very close to the city of Modena. The atmosphere inside is unique, as you are surrounded by hundreds of wood barrels full of Balsamic Vinegar undergoing its ageing process and the scent of Balsamic is in the air.

This was an exceptional tour. Our guide, Gloria, was friendly and welcoming as well as very knowledgeable. Gloria’s presentation was very well organized. She shared not only the family and company’s history making balsamic vinegar but also a thorough explanation of the process of making the DOP and IGP balsamic. Could not recommend this tour more.

This experience was wonderful! Our host was super knowledgeable and I felt like I came out of the experience really understanding more about the production of this special vinegar from this area. It’s a really fun activity if you’re in the Modena area!

What an incredible experience. If you are in Modena definitely go for this. Gloria walked us through the history of Balsamic Vinegar production and of the family as well as the production process. It was really cool to see the old barrels still in use and understand the difference between the two types of vinegar. We also tasted a few different types which were delicious and ended up buying a few bottles for personal use and as gifts. Highly recommend!
