Qué harás

This tour - Full-Day Anchorage Hiking Tour is a 6-8 hour hike into the great wild beauty of Anchorage’s backyard backcountry. It is a more challenging hike, with steeper, more rocky terrain and requires the physical stamina and strength to hike for a full day anywhere from 6 to 12 miles while carrying a 10-15 pound pack.

Both Summer and Winter hikes offer up some of the most amazing experiences; it is at once awe-inspiring as it is peaceful, beautiful yet reserved. There are several trails in our Chugach State park which offer up amazing hikes to experience in both summer & winter landscapes. Some are ascents on Mountain ridges, while others are gentler walks in forested trails and alpine valleys.

Due to Covid precautions we will not be able to provide any transportation. We will contact you before the hike and agree on a trail based on what you would like to see and your physical abilities. Please keep in mind that, unless you make a private booking, there are others in the group whose abilities, physical strength, and skill level may differ from yours.

On the day of the hike we will meet at 9:00 am at the agreed upon trail head.

Along the way we will discuss local flora, fauna, geology, and history of the area. You can take a moment to enjoy the majestic beauty of our backcountry and fully immerse yourself in the moment.

Dan and Kristina have spent a lifetime meandering in our local mountains, where one finds an endless well of joy. There are places for great views, challenging ascensions, and gentle wandering that fill your soul with peace and contentment. This is pure wilderness-a restorative antidote to modern stresses that affect our health and well-being, an experience of pure joy and connection with nature. This is what inspired Dan and Kristina to start their company, Into the Woods-a place where all ages can reconnect with nature and their own sense of well-being.

Dan, Kristina, and their team of guides have EMT, CPR/first aid, and wilderness first responder experience, as well as bear and moose safety experience. We love to show people the awe-inspiring natural beauty of our home, making safety our top priority. Come hike with us!

Donde estarás

We will be hiking into Alaska's Chugach State Park. This park is bigger than the state of Rhode Island, offering many trails to explore. A full day hiking tour allows us to handpick the best option for each group and each given day. Winter hiking also allows you to explore places that become impassible in the summer months due to dense vegetation. Some of our favorite winter hikes are: Wolvering Bowl Trail, Bird Ridge, and Winner Creek Trail.

Good hike! We went on April 1st and there was 3 feet of snow on the ground. It was a fun experience hiking through snow (from Chicago). The gear provided by Dan made a big difference. He made sure we had a varied experience and appeared to be very knowledgeable about the terrain. It’s a medium level hike if you’re not used to snow hiking but the sights made it worth it!
