“Calton hill is part of the World Heritage site and is beyond the east end of Princes Street. It is the perfect place for photography of views over the whole city and has often been used by painters to capture the city. The Scottish Parliament (an amazing modern building) and Holyrood Palace lie at the foot of the hill. On the hill are the National Monument, the Nelson Monument, the Robert Burns Monument and the City Observatory. ”

“High end eating in some style. Not sure how chef Tom Kitchin is handling this part of his restaurant business since lockdown but it is open and we absolutely love his food. The set lunch is a huge bargain compared with the a la carte evening menu. The quality is unbeatable so book ahead if you want to enjoy a very special experience here.”

“Fantastic pizza and you can either go and eat in their lovely restaurant, order it for delivery at home or, if you are at The Joker & The Thief on Leith Walk, order it and have it with your pint of Tennent's (they serve it up on a platter, and provide napkins etc....amazing!). The Vesuvio is my firm favourite!”
