Drinks & Nightlife

Was hard to pick which category this place belongs in- great for a drink and snack just coming off the beach or waiting for a pizza (or sandwich from next door Village Food market), as a dinner bar scene, or just to grab lunch or dinner. The oven fired pizza is really delicious with creative toppings, and the bar scene is dark and swanky, full of all ages, tourists and locals alike- offering a very fun selection of cocktails.

Opens at 6am for early risers but closes by early afternoon. They have long waiting lines that move quickly. Excellent large selection of delicious breakfast/brunch food and drink. Outdoor or quaint indoor dining and wonderful service. One of our regular hangouts that’s almost a stones throw from our home.

We are from Texas so we are tough on Tex-mex out of state, but the atmosphere and drinks are fun and the manager, Pablo, is quite the tequila, mezcal, and sotol aficionado. Always enjoy this after a walk downtown.

Take a step back in time at this bar, which is cozy and friendly. Bartending staff is wonderful and crowds are talkative, especially our friend Buzzy, who works Wednesday nights and has thoughts about everything you talk about when you’re drinking.

Also a movie/music venue with great bar food and drinks, set in the riser seats of the Leavitt Theater. A creative and fun adaptation of theater space with theme nights including surf movies and live jazz. This is a great place to wind down on the way home from being out on the town. Or head out late for drinks and live music outside or downstairs early, and upstairs late night. Creative menu (love the truffle popcorn, grilled cheese, and smash burger) served late. Drink menu is also wonderfully creative, as is the decor. Owned by artists who are friends of ours, would never have expected less.

Everything Else

Don't know how to describe my love for this place. The food is fine, not gourmet or particularly creative (although the sweet potato fries and the steamers are consistently great go-to items if you're eating). It's on Ogunquit beach as part of the only edifice grandfathered in, so needless to say, the view is spectacular. The deck is always a destination when you've had enough sun but still want spectacular views, or when it's 5 o'clock somewhere and you're craving that creamy pina colada. It now closes at dinner (hoping it will come back!) but it’s still a good sun respite in the day.

Delicious and unique flavors. One location on route 1 just north of our home, and another on Shore road.

Shopping

Clothing and surf gear. Get ready to drop some money in here- the style and prices are pretty LA. But it's my preferred bathing suit store each year, and always end up finding an extra beachwear item (mostly surf and skateboard brands) that I didn't know I needed... the attached restaurant is more for hanging out and having a drink while your shopping partner takes too long, but it works in a pinch.

Arts & Culture

Really fantastic off-Broadway productions and sometimes a chance to see a really well-known performer. This is the place that brought and brings OGT it's unique character in the array of Maine coastal towns. Offerings for the whole family, not a bad seat in the house.

Surprisingly good collections and a lot of local artists including Native American art. It's a gorgeous building with a nice view of the rocky coast. Date or family destination .

People don't so much hike on this trail as stroll and enjoy the beautiful views of both the rocky and sandy coast. I enjoyed it more when it was more rustic, but many tourists may prefer the more manicured look it's getting. Nice benches pepper the walk for rest stops and photo ops. Lots of hills so easy to justify the big meal in the Cove that you're on your way to or from!

Essentials

For the budget conscious who want to cook a lot while vacationing. Great selection of food and beer. Really funny and friendly staff. And since you're already in NH, you can pick up some wine or liquor from one of the tax free NH liquor stores. It's just a short drive just over the Maine/NH bridge on I-95.

Great breakfast and sandwich shop/deli with a New York corner grocery feel. Lots of essentials crammed tightly onto many shelves. Pick up a bottle of wine on way home from beach - selection is nice. Pricier than the larger chains but can’t beat the convenience!
