EAT.
The food scene in Asheville does not disappoint, y’all. This foodie city has been recognized by hundreds of national and international food publications. A ton of the culinary hot spots mentioned on this list are walkable from The Montford Jewel, including All Day Darling, Nine Mile, and Tall John’s. You may want to look up each place online to check out the walking distance, review their menu selection and make reservations (if that is an available option). Our experience has been that a lot of these restaurants will have waits over the weekend, especially at peak eating times. So, our suggestion is to make a reservation when possible or go earlier/later than regular meal times! No one likes waiting too long when they’re hungry. Welcome to foodtopia and happy eating!

Tall John’s is located in the heart of Montford on Montford Avenue, a 5 minute walk from The Montford Jewel. They serve delicious dinner and cocktails, and their weekend brunch is outstanding. This old S&W building has been turned into Asheville’s first food hall and it is amazing. We love Buxton Chicken Palace and Bun Intended for yummy eats and The Times Bar for delicious drinks.

Asheville has tons of drink options for those who are wanting to enjoy creative and innovative craft cocktails, as well as all of the craft beers of your dreams. Though the entire city of Asheville is sprawling with breweries, the main brewery area is called the South Slope and is located in the south part of downtown Asheville.
Since this place opened in Spring 2019, we have made sure to take all of our out of town guests here. Noble has been a legendary local cidery for years and this taproom deserves just as much attention. Their wide selection of Noble ciders are wonderful and their mixed cocktail concoctions are top notch. But I don’t know what’s better- their delicious food or the drink selection! Be sure to check out the ginger bread houses during the November-December holiday season.

Welcome to the Blue Ridge Mountains and (what we think is) the best outdoor city in the south! For more information on hikes listed here and beyond this list, check out our favorite local hiking resource at www.romanticasheville.com . We should also mention that the Montford Historic District (the neighborhood where The Montford Jewel is located) is one of the best residential neighborhoods in all of Asheville to explore. We walk the neighborhood streets daily and admire the history and architecture of the homes. You will find that Montford Avenue and Cumberland Avenue have several older, charming bed and breakfasts that are lovely to view, as well as hundreds of homes influenced by the Victorian era, Arts and Craft and Queen Anne styles throughout the neighborhood. Be sure to stroll around!
