This place has it all! Darling coffee shop and old fashioned general store vibe with lots of cool souvenirs and local honey! Really, you should hike the Lynn Loop first and then go there to reward yourself.

Bridge Brewing is a great local brewery with (in our opinion) the best craft beer in North Vancouver. Tacos are amazing, great pale ale and it's a vibrant scene well loved by the local mountain biking comunity.

Moja is our favourite local coffee shop! They roast the coffee on site and are VERY particular about how they serve it. They also have beautiful croissants and pastries.

The view at the Beach House can not be beat and the menu is varied and delicious with an emphasis on seafood. Wine List is good, as are the cocktails. This is a really fun and beautiful place to dine. Before or after your meal go for a walk on the West Van Seawall, which starts right in front of the restaurant and carries on almost to the Lion's Gate Bridge.

The Museum of Anthropology is one of the most beautiful museums I have ever been to. The glass foyer is stunning, housing a spectacular array of traditional and contemporary arts from the Northwest Coast First Nations. Located on the University of British Columbia Endowment Lands, it overlooks the Spanish Banks out to the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful!

Parks & Nature

Lynn Canyon is a spectacular park 10 minutes away by car. Enjoy the natural beauty of the coastal temperate rainforest as you hike the trails in the park. The Suspension Bridge hangs 50 meters above Lynn Creek, offering exciting views of the canyon. Once across the bridge, a ten minute walk upstream brings you to the river's edge and the deep green waters of 30 foot pool. It is breath takingly beautiful.

Sightseeing

Stanley Park is a 405 hectare public park that is one of Vancouver's iconic attractions. Walk the seawall - the 10 k walkway skirts the perimeter of the park and offers outstanding views of the city, the harbour and the Lion's Gate Bridge. There are several bike rentals on Denman Street near the entrance of the park, it's really fun to rent a tandem bike and circle the park (takes about an hour by bike, unless you stop for fish and chips at the Lumberman's Arch concession or to swim at the 2nd Beach Pool, both of which we also recommend).

The Capilano Suspension is 450 ' across and 230' above the Capilano River. Cliff Walk is the Park's newest attraction (a cantilevered walkway cling to the granite above). Located 20 minutes from the house on Capilano Road, this is a real adventure and introduction to the wilds of the North Shore mountains.

Cleveland Dam, built in 1954, supplies fresh drinking water to the lower mainland. It's free to go there and mesmerizing to stand at the top of the dam and witness the power of the torrents of water pouring down. There are also a lot of hiking trails and a salmon hatchery in the park.

Taking the gondola up to the top of Grouse Mountain is an adventure in itself, and the views from the top are spectacular. For the hiking minded, the "Grouse Grind" is a one mile (free) hiking trail up the side of the mountain which is pretty much a local fitness institution from the Spring thaw until the snow shuts it down in October. And, of course, there is skiing there all winter. The night skiing view of Vancouver's lights is beautiful, you can also take in the view from the Crow's Nest Restaurant atop the mountain.

Save-On is a huge grocery store, pharmacy and general stuff shopping emporium. It is just down the hill in Park and Tilford Shopping Centre. Prices are good, produce is fresh, and you can get just about anything you might need in the grocery department. They have a large International Food section that covers just about every food group that I know of, anyway.
