Guidebook will be completed by 24th April. We have so much to put in it, as there are so many beautiful places nearby, and we have a wealth of local knowledge.

We live high up in Torquay, close to Babbacombe. It is pretty flat to walk to local shops & tourist attractions in Babbacome & St. Marychurch Plainmoor shops is only a few mins walk which has a new Lidl's and numerous takeaways. There is a lovely play park for children in Babbacome, only a few mins away. There is also 'Cary Park', which is only a few mins away too where you can let dogs have a little run around! Walls Hill is a much larger area for walking with your pets with superb sea views, only 15 mins walk away. 5 min drive in the car. It is pretty safe around where we live, we are on a slightly busy road but we are set back so you don't hear much traffic noise.

Experience the charming and characterful village of Babbacombe and be enchanted by its stunning sea views, colourful promenade and picturesque buildings. Boasting a delightful alternative to the hustle and bustle of Torquay, there are still plenty of things to do in Babbacombe for all ages and tastes. Situated on top of the stunning red sandstone cliffs, the village offers holidaymakers an insight into the traditional and olde worlde charm of the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay. Walk to Babbacombe Beach, have a drink or a meal in The Cary Arms and walk along to Oddicombe Beach where the Cliff Railway will bring you back to the Downs.

Places to visit at Babbacombe The cliff railway if your wanting some exercise walk down to odicombe beach and return by railway a great view . Lunch ,takeaway or coffee I recommend three degrees west , a warm welcome here. Walk across to Babbacombe beach and beyond more rocky quiet for swimming. The Cary Arms looks over the harbour, may need to book for meal it's a 5 star hotel. Various walks back to top finishing by Babbacombe Theatre or to the left side of road up to walls hill and the continuation of the South west coast path . TEA on the downs , spoil yourself at Angels may need to book its very popular Eating on the Babbacombe downs. There are many choices here you may wish to consult trip adviser My main takeaway is the famous Hanbury fish and chips a few minutes along Princes street from the downs, really lovely to enjoy while enjoying the view over lyme bay. Tip the mini meal is great for small appetites and very reasonably priced. Places to visit Kents cavern , Wellswood.Britain's oldest stone age home and more . See website for details Follow Ilsham road all the way to Meadfoot beach Lovely sandy party rocky beach best when tide is out, far end is Meadfoot cafe lovely outlook and feel, occasionally have evening menu , breakfast and lunch strict times , above it the Osborne hotel with terrace cafe and bar non residents welcome . Follow Isham road then branch up to Ilsham marine drive to some of the finest views across Lyme bay . Not forgetting another small but beautiful cove Ansteys cove easily walkable about 30 minutes across walls hill and down the sw coast path, there awaits a small cove lovely for swimming and cafe serving breakfast. Further afield the village of shaldon very sweet with cafes pubs along the mouth of the river teign. Parking is difficult so go up the hill and find a car park or maybe some road parking. Maybe take the ferry to Teignmouth only 5 minutes. Even farther afield is the fishing town of Brixham and not far to Kingswear and Dartmouth. For bigger escapes try start point amazing walk along coast path any many small coves to enjoy.

Lovely views over the coast, a great fish and chip shop called Hanbury’s. Grab an ice cream and get the cliff railway down to Odicombe Beach or walk down the hill.
