RESERVATIONS REQUIREDStunning beach with views towards Gloucester. 2.5 miles from the boardwalk to the Essex end of the beach makes it a wonderful walking beach. Check trustees.org on Mondays and Thursdays to grab a spot.

Crane's is a longer 30 min drive (Ipswich). Another Spectacular Beach (as long as the Greenheads are no longer in season ... Greenheads are nasty flies ... check the internet ... it's a couple weeks in July). Crane's has dunes. It's huge. And it's gorgeous.

This is our favorite beach. The water is somewhat swimmable by August (it is New England afterall) and check out Russell's Orchards for apple picking and cider donuts on your way home. With no traffic, Ipswich is about an hour north of us.
