Elvenhome Farm and Cottage offer an eco-holiday experience, located close to the historic township of Deloraine. Hand built and cultivated for over twenty years, we are a Bio-Dynamic farm employing Permaculture design principles in both house and gardens. The farm showcases a diversity of environmentally sustainable living. Our unique self-contained cottage features bamboo floors and artisan crafted Blackwood windows. There are two bedrooms, comprising of a Queen bed suite and the second having comfortable twin bunks. The separate dining and living areas have a warm and spacious feel. A fully equipped kitchen is stocked with continental breakfast provisions and seasonal farm produce will be available for you to sample. A sun drenched patio is the perfect place to enjoy magnificent views and bird life. The farm is nestled into native bushland. The pre-existing clearing of five acres has been transformed into orchards, kitchen gardens, animal runs and structures for the home and visitor accommodation. A substantial orchard of fruits, nuts and berries, along with a vegetable garden, milking goats and laying hens provide plentiful supplies of produce year round. Within walking distance you will enjoy activities including swimming, fishing, bush walking and birdwatching. Farm Workshops in sustainable living are available daily. See website for details. Environmental Initiatives Elvenhome Farm and cottage have been designed according to an understanding of the need for harmony in the landscape and for the health and wellbeing of all its inhabitants. By drawing on architectural knowledge of the golden ratio in building design, and using the wisdoms of a feng shui master,the shape of the cottage began to take form. The cottage design allows for the use of recyclable and renewable building materials resourced in a sustainable manner. Local craftsmen and artists have collaborated to bring the vision into reality. Passive solar design and orientation contribute to a minimal need for heating and cooling systems. Solar energy was used throughout the building process to power all trade tools. It continues to be the main power source for the entire property. Extensive water harvesting is made possible with large rainwater storage tanks and a spring fed dam to supply all water needs. Composting toilets further reduce water consumption. All waste water is filtered on site for irrigation of perennial tree crops. With this in mind, all soaps, shampoos and detergents are environmentally friendly, as they are distributed back into the farm system. Hot water needs are provided for by a combustion stove in the main house and an instant gas hot water system in the cottage. Evacuated tubes will be installed in the near future to further reduce energy use and ultimately the carbon footprint . All recyclable materials are separated and distributed to the local recycling centre. Signage is in place to educate guests about the need for appropriate methods of recycling. Permaculture principles are incorporated throughout Elvenhome Farm. Importance has been given to the placement and relative location of many elements supporting one another. Available biological resources are used according to the energy cycling principle. For example, fruit trees produce apples that feed our guests. The apple waste is fed to the chickens and the apple tree prunings are fed to the goats. Both the chickens and goats produce eggs and milk, to nourish our guests, and manure for garden and orchard, therefore the energy cycle continues and forms a closed loop system. Over twenty years of observing the patterns and cycles of nature within the farm allow for continual improvement in its sustainable permanent agriculture. Bio-Dynamic practices are used for the health and wellbeing of the animals, plants and humans on Elvenhome Farm. Each season, Bio-Dynamic preparations are applied to enhance the farm system. 'As above, so below,' is a simple understanding of the greater natural forces at play in our everyday lives. The cottage is one component of the whole farm. It was primarily built for guests with a thirst for learning about an ecologically sustainable lifestyle. A series of structured workshops are available to guests while staying at Elvenhome farm. Vintners Rest by Meander Valley Vineyard

Private and luxurious self-contained cabin nestled amongst the vines on a 15-acre working vineyard in northern Tasmania. It’s a great halfway point between Devonport and Launceston (35min drive from either) We’re on the Tasting Tail, surrounded by a wealth of produce including truffle, salmon, raspberry, dairy and honey farms. In the distance lie the Western Tiers, Cradle Mountain, and the Tasmanian wilderness. It’s a place where the cleanest air, land and water produce truly outstanding wine.

Eco self contained cottage in a garden.

This mini 1 bedroom house was our trial run in building our main home using passive house principles. We are approx 1 km from the centre of Westbury in a rural location. (You may be lucky enough to sight some of our local wildlife during your stay! ) The cottage is suitable for a couple, however the extra single bed does enable some flexibility for guests.(i.e. if you wish to use both beds, please book for 3 people.) We provide a library of information about sustainability for guest perusal.

Kenya Cottage

Catering for up to six guests (max. 4 adults & 2 children), Kenya Cottage is close to the food and wine producers of northern Tasmania. You’ll love Kenya Cottage because of the 1890's Victorian ambience. Ideal for couples and families. Located only 30 minutes from Launceston and Devonport. Ingleson cottage

15 minute walk to Deloraine Township, river and eateries, 40 min.to Launceston & Devonport, 1.5hrs to Cradle Mountain. Built in 1875 this cottage has several internal steps which may not be suitable for everyone. Renovated in 2015 a few walls have been moved, & a few luxuries added, to compliment the cottage there is magnificent views, & with views there must be hills. A bbq & a hammock on the deck for those who wish to relax. Suitable for a maximum of 4 people. fully self contained.

Naivasha Tiny House with Wood Fired Hot Tub

Naivasha Tiny House is the perfect romantic getaway. It is set in a clearing in the Tasmanian bush and has amazing views of the countryside. The tiny home itself has been built entirely of cedar by local artisans. It has been fitted out with antique and reclaimed furnishings with an emphasis on comfort and laid back luxury. The wood fired hot tub is without doubt the highlight. The claw foot bath, indoor wood fire, outdoor fire pit and friendly native wildlife are close seconds.

The property is surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest which is a result of the protracted Jackeys Marsh Forest Protests. The fresh air, crystal clear water, abundant wildlife and pristine environment are all environmental values prized by the people of Jackeys Marsh. We would now like to share our unique heritage with the rest of the world.

Bay Tree Cottage

Bay Tree Cottage is your home away from home. This 1889 cottage is Full of character, The house has been beautifully decorated to welcome its new guests. Situated in the heart of Deloraine and three doors up from Deloraines best cafe and deli. The local supermarket is just a block away for all your grocery needs or explore Deloraine’s local restaurants. Just across the road is the information centre and museum with friendly staff to help you with your travel needs.

Wylah Cottage, Deloraine, Secluded Bush Retreat

Nestling in a forest of Peppermint Gums is Wylah Cottage, so named after the Aboriginal word for the Yellow Tailed, Black Cockatoo, which is regularly seen and heard around the property. A secluded, self contained, bush retreat, located close to all the good things Tasmania has to offer. On 55 acres of bushland, teeming with wildlife, yet only 7kms from Deloraine – on the way to Cradle Mountain, and 45 minutes to either the Devonport Ferry, or Launceston Airport.

Tarcombe House at Deloraine

Tarcombe House is close to the centre of historic Deloraine with it's art & craft shops, antique shops, cafes, supermarket and gorgeous Meander River walks. Perfectly situated for the annual Deloraine Craft Fair and many other tourist attractions. It is cosy and very comfortable making it a perfect getaway for 1 or 2 couples travelling together. Each bedroom has it's own private ensuite. Deloraine is close to Launceston and Devonport and Cradle Mountain.
