Seafood has been Mersea's speciality since the Roman times. Colchester, a short drive away offers a wide variety of leisure and entertainment venues.

Tuck away next to the Wivenhoe woods (upper Wivenhoe), this lovely self-contained studio flat provides comfortable accommodation throughout. The studio is on a cul-de-sac, with its own entrance. It is just a short walk to the University of Essex via Wivenhoe Public pathway. The the train station is also only 15 minute walk away through the Wivenhoe trail. Ideal for 1-2 guests, but a baby or small chid is welcome (providing that you bring your own travel cot & bedding with you).

The Retreat offers a king-size bed in a beautiful cabin, with shower room, TV, fresh towels & linen, bathroom essentials as well as tea & coffee. Walking out of the cabin, within two minutes you will be on the coast road leading either to the village centre or towards the harbour.

Riverside gem with a nautical past

In the heart of lower Wivenhoe on the quay, our little self-contained cottage was once part of the home of The Colne Marine and Yacht Company. Its thick brick walls and quiet and pretty disposition, defy its former role as a working yard where timber yachts were crafted and repaired, drawn up inside at high tide. Emma and Charlie welcome guests back time after time to relax and enjoy this very special place. We hope you will join them.
