During your stay I highly recommend the Papaaloa Country Store and Restaurant just down the road. They have great pizza and fresh locally grown foods and local style menu. Beautiful sunset and infinity sea/sky line from the bedroom. Galaxy and shooting stars at the night. About 20mins from many beaches, and downtown.

The Cottages At Volcano - Hale Alala

Surrounded by the rainforest of Volcano and situated just outside of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, our cozy cottage offers a welcoming place for some rest and relaxation between adventures. Hale 'Alalā is named after the highly endangered hawaiian crow whose reintroduction efforts have been focused on the forests around Volcano. While there are no longer any Alalā living in the wild, you can see a pair of live Alalā just down the road at the Panaewa Zoo (free admission).

This little cabin is so cozy, it's like your home away from home. You will find most everything you will need while staying here. It's tucked away in the trees with a National Park right in the back yard! You'll wish you could stay longer! Please be sure to read the entire description of the listing so there are no surprises. Babies under 6 months are welcome ( pack and play is available). There is only one bed so there's no accommodations for children older than that.
