We are situated 5 minutes walk from Derwent Water and the Nicol End Marina for kayaking and water activities. Portinscale has a pub that serves food and a cafe. Our favourite eating places nearby are Swinside Inn and the Ivy Restaurant in Braithwaite. Keswick is a mere 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk for eating out, shopping and outdoor sports.

Dog friendly and a hit with ramblers and those who enjoy messing about in boats, as the cottage is situated close to the western side of Derwentwater lake and also to fantastic fells and mountains. Wonderfully located in the north of the Lake District National Park.

Washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, fridge freezer, cooker. We have a BBQ and table tennis table too. Brand new bathroom

Welcome to Highside a delightful cottage set in a secluded location overlooking the tranquil village of Lorton. Dating back to 1695 (as engraved on the fireplace in the kitchen), the cottage retains many original features but has been sympathetically modernised. The cottage resides within our farm, Terrace Farm with open countryside and panoramic views of the Lakeland Fells and numerous Wainwrights including Melbreak, Whiteside, Low Fell, Hopegillhead to name but a few.

There is a superb cafe situated 100 yards from the cottage and a local village pub. The cosy cottage is the perfect base for a fantastic holiday.

Camping barn under Catbells in the Lake District

We are a nature friendly farm at the foot of Catbells. Great walking straight from the door. We cater for walkers and cyclists who will appreciate the peace and quiet of the location. The accommodation is very basic with a small kitchen area, a wood burning stove, 3 single mattresses, and a double bed on the mezzanine. The bathroom is next to the camping barn, and there is a washing up area outside.
