Recommendations for days out

This is a must on your visit to Durham and of course don't forget to go into the courtyard where part of Harry Potter was filmed ;-) . I would also recommend the café on Palace Green. If you come on the first weekend in December you will experience the Christmas Market there another must.

An open air museum which is very famous up in the North East. Great for a family day out. You can walk back in time there is even a sweet shop that you can go into and buy real sweets (my favourite bit). Also a farm and a tram to ride on. Can't recommend it enough.

Not far to travel from Belmont to this lovely coastal area . Great for a day out and lots of nice restaurants down there. Marsden Rock is a great place to eat, a famous restaurant set in a rock. Great if you like fish to eat.

Another lovely coastal place to go and worth going to sample an ice cream from "Lickety Split" , a very popular ice parlour in Seaham.

You can't come to the North East without having a trip to Newcastle and listening to some of the "Geordie" talk. I would especially recommend a walk along the lovely quayside and have a walk over the millennium bridge to see the Sage . Also there is the "Pitcher and Piano" pub on one side of that bridge. If you make your way towards the Tyne Bridge you will find your way up Grey Street where there are many classy restaurants to enjoy and evening out.
