Consejos para la ciudad

Cómo moverse

Really good public transportation

Porto has a very good transportation network. The metro is easy to use, fast and reliable. There are innumerous bus lines throughout the city which you can also use. You may find a lot of useful information about schedules and also the available lines on the City Move app, STCP website, and metrodoporto website. If you want to travel by car you may use Uber or Bolt, both available in Porto. Tag us in your travel pictures by using #discover_porto or @discover_porto

Outstanding traditional food

When traveling to Porto you should definitely try our typical dish which is Francesinha. Francesinha is inspired by the french sandwich Croque monsieur but with a lot more filling. It contains a steak, traditional sausages, cheese, and special sauce with a secret recipe. It is accompanied by french fries and a fried egg on top and it really works well with a big mug of Super Bock (Portuguese beer). Some of the best restaurants for trying francesinha are Santiago, Capa Negra, O Tucano. Other typical dishes which you should try is everything containing Bacalhau (codfish), Tripas and fresh fish.
Qué empacar

Don't bring high heels :)

When visiting Porto make sure you bring comfortable shoes (and, if traveling during winter, don't forget your umbrella). The city is quite hilly so there is a lot of climbing involved while sightseeing. Besides that, most of the streets are covered in cobblestone which makes heel wearing rather difficult and sometimes even dangerous. Flat shoes will help you go a long way (literally).
