Sutton Hoo (A National Trust site) sits just around the corner on the other side of the River Deben. It is a famous site where several burial mounds were discovered, including the famous Anglo Saxon boat buried with its treasures. There are guided tours on offer as well as a museum, shop and restaurant to be enjoyed. www.nationaltrust.org.uk

Old Felixstowe is a fishing community where you can buy the catch of the day and then take a small ferry over to Bawdsey (a very famous radar headquarters during the Second World War).
