If we were only in town for a night or two, these would be the ones we’d want to know about.
One of our favorite date night restaurants from acclaimed chef Chris Bianco. Homemade pasta and bread with a seasonal menu. Only a 3 minute drive away, but make reservations early if you can!

Another special night favorite. Vibrant Latin-inspired food with creative cocktails. Some of our favorites are the elote, the karaage, and of course, the banana bread for dessert.

Recently ranked the 3rd best pizzeria in America by USA, and for good reason. For more daring foodies, try the Rosa - pistachios on pizza is absolutely incredible. The Adams St location is more intimate, but if you’re in a pinch, the Town and Country location tends to be less busy (and has amazing pastas as well).

Fantastic Thai street food with a cozy patio. The wait can be long, so call ahead for reservations if you can. We always start with potstickers, and our absolute favorite is the panang curry.

Tasty (and affordable) choice for authentic Chihuahuan-style Mexican food. This is a great takeout option as well. We like the al pastor, either in a taco or burrito!

Roosevelt Street (or Roosevelt Row, as it’s locally known) is a strip of niche businesses, restaurants, and stunning murals located only a few blocks away. Check online for the first and third Friday events, where artists, musicians, and food trucks set up shop along the strip for the ultimate art walk experience.

Stuff to do

One of the most unique botanical gardens around, especially for AZ first-timers. This is also a great night activity in the hotter summer months.

Phoenix has some of the most expansive urban parkland in the world, and Papago Park might be its most unique. If you can’t make it up to Sedona for the true red rock experience, these trails are a great alternative. The nearby Phoenix Zoo is wonderful as well!

Enjoy dinner and cocktails at this funky historic property turned food truck court. Fridays and Saturdays are busy, but the atmosphere is always really fun. There’s also an outdoor movie theater playing niche/cult classics. Saint Pasta’s rigatoni vodka with chicken and ricotta is our favorite!

Transportation

Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs are easiest to navigate by car. The lightrail system is useful in some cases, but we’d recommend either renting a car or using rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft.
