Favorite Native Foods

If this is your first time in Miami, lets hit up all the major spots! Here is a list of some of the best food you can't get anywhere else. I've sprinkled in a few of my own guilty pleasures :)
The MECA of all things Cuban. Come here for the best cafecito in Miami, right from the Ventanita! [ven-tah-nee-tah] The little window. They have the best cuban breakfast, sandwiches, pastries, and even dinner. This is where everyone converges to when Miami has a major celebration. Have a cafecito and you'll be talking a mile-a-minute like all the friendly locals here.

A cuban restaurant open since 1976! Some of the best local dishes, sandwiches, and even desserts! Make sure to pour those black beans over the bed of rice, and have a chunk of the fried plantain with every bite. Yum!

Ever had a mixed pork, beef, and chorizo burger? This is Rey de Las Frita; The Fritter King! Food comes out rather quickly, so it's sort of a NY-stand-up and eat spot. Definitely order the Original Frita [free-tah] I usually order that Al Caballo! [al-ka-buy-oh] which is the burger with a fried egg on top!

Sometimes the traditional Cuban sandwich craves some experimentation. Daniel and his wife are here cooking up some of the wildest renditions of our favorite local sandwich. Sanguich is very close to one of our biggest tourist areas 8th street 'Calle Ocho' so be wary that lines might be long. Definitely worth calling in advance, or putting it as a detour along your itinerary!
