The Arboretum is walkable (left out of Skipwyth, left onto Beechtree Dr and left onto Harrison (if walking—if driving, just go left at the light onto Harrison) then up on your left. It has a Ruth’s Chris, Bonefish Grill, pizza, burgers, Asian fusion, Moe’s, and a Raleigh Brewing Company location.

Downtown Cary is only about 3 miles and they have a bunch of great stuff—Cotton House Brewing, Bond Brothers Brewing (great patio and place to spend a nice afternoon), Triangle Beer Co, Chatham Wine Co—there is also food—Academy Street Bistro, Scratch Kitchen, Blue Moon Bakery, La Farm Bakery, just to name a few.

Sightseeing
Umstead Park is also close by--take a left out of Skipwyth, left at the light and go straight past all the highway on ramps, you'll go right in.
I enjoy the 4 mile loop (ups and downs) starting at the back right part of the parking lot.

Black Creek Greenway: If you like a nice walk in the morning or evening, head out of Skipwyth Circle, take a left and walk up to Beechtree Dr. Take a left on Beechtree and you’ll see some stairs down to the greenway path to your left just after the townhouses. You can follow it down, across the stream and to the right to head out to Lake Crabtree (about 1.5 miles one way) or to the left and head across the bridge into North Cary Park (about .75 mile one way). Normally either can be done as a circle, but with current construction, you’ll have to come back the way you came.
