Excellent work out for the young. Rewards is the mountain top restaurant and magificant view of the city. Plus there are lots of family activities top of the mountain, such as bird viewing, games, movies, helicopter rides, ziplines...etc. Stop by after visiting the Capilano suspension bridge, it's only 5 minutes drive away.

One of my personal favour, very close to your house, 5 minutes drive away. Navigate suspended walkways and tree platforms high above the forest floor. Bring some seeds home from the shop. Nice and relaxing place to be for a few hours. Best is to start from Pacific Spirit Park, walk in the flat trail to the UBC garden. There are bus service outside of the garden.

If you want to do everything in 1 day, start the Grouse mountain grind, then drive 5 minute down to Capilano Suspension bridge, then drive to the Sea to sky gondola in Squamish. You will be exhausted but these 3 activities are nicely grouped together.
