Sightseeing

One of the most famous places to visit in Cascais is “Boca do Inferno” (portuguese for “Hell´s Mouth”- literal translation), this is a unique rock formation on the edge of the ocean. It is believed this place use to be a cave that over time and by the force of the sea relented and gave rise to the scenario as it is known today. Currently Boca do Inferno is an open cavity, with a sort of arch where it enters the sea water. In days of rough waters it is possible to hear the sound of water hitting the rocks. There is also a path that leads to the other side of the “arc” of the cavity, where the water enters.
