Breweries near Old Ballard

These are some of the craft breweries that I feature in my Seattle Brewery Walking Tour near the Old Ballard neighborhood.
Lagunitas opened the Beer Sanctuary in 2017 and features the beers that have made Lagunitas a national name in craft beer. The on premise brewery features beers only available here in Seattle. Dan, the head brewer, uses local ingredients and always has 3 to 5 beers on tap that you will find nowhere else. Then, outside in the beer garden the food truck has some amazing hamburgers and most weekend evenings live music fills the taproom. If you think you know everything about Lagunitas you have not visited Seattle's TapRoom & Beer Sanctuary.

The Bergschrund Taproom for NW Peaks Brewery in Ballard has been used as a tavern since the end of Prohibition. The old wood bar and cozy atmosphere is a great setting for some truly wonderful beers. Kevin, owner and brewer, brews beers in the traditional English and German styles. You are still going to be able to enjoy a great Northwest IPA as well as rotating selections of English Ales such as the Redoubt Red, the Stuart Stout and a Vespers ESP, and some wonderful German inspired Hefeweizens, and Bocks. This is one of the few taprooms with a small kitchen for pizzas. sandwiches, nachos and snacks. Children and dogs are welcome as long as they stay away from the bar area. There are wine, cider and soft drinks for your non-beer drinking friends. A wonderful time to visit any time of the year.

Owners Haley and Dave Keller have two loves, besides each other, bicycles and beer. They are literally peddlers who started their own brewery. Peddler features 12 taps, a tasting room, a large beer garden with a large tent, lots of picnic tables, awesome food trucks and lots of bike racks. They also have some great beers. Their tastes are wide ranging and you can find a nice Northwest IPA as well as a juicy NEIPA. If you don't know the difference, try both. They usually have the best dry Irish stout on nitro this side of Dublin and an ever changing array of ales and lagers. Peddler Brewing is also a very active place. Several nights of the week the beer garden is the site of trivia games, movie nights and poetry slams.... all with beer. Kid friendly and passionate about dogs. There is usually a food truck parked out back and the sandwich shop next door has a hole in the fence where you can order food to enjoy with your beer.
