The food is amazing! Try the Sunday brunch! The menu changes with what's available locally, and the chef/owner has competed in the state cooking competition- he's amazing! I usually try whatever is on special, but the pork chops are a go to as well!

TATER TOTS!! I don't think I need to say anything else! This was recently taken over by a seafood truck owner, and that's made them a bit more fish focused! You look around this out-of-the-way little place and don't expect to get one of the best shrimp poboys ever, but you do! They even have car hops on the weekends!

There's often not a lot of ethnic options in small towns, but Boone seems to be an exception! Vidalia is great for American cuisine, but I love to get the noodle bowl or Masaman curry here! Try the mango sticky rice for dessert!

As long as we're talking ethnic food, let me tell you about some of the best sushi I've ever had- right here in Boone! You might be as surprised as I was, but my fish monger friend in Boston told me that most fish is flash frozen on the boat now- it's all about attention to detail in keeping it that way. Interesting! Back to Cobo- one of the best fried calamari plates ever! Also, some special rolls like the Going Green for veggie lovers, the Mile High, and the Appalachian. Try them all! My very favorite thing is the Chirashi bowl. It's a full meal with sashimi twirled into flowers, rice, pickles, sliced apples and lemons, pickled seafood salad, seaweed salad, avocado... mmmmmm.....

Excellent Pho! Under $10 for good sized bowl- you choose the ingredients. Don't know jicama? Make sure you include it- it's great! I like to mix the spicy lemon grass and hearty beef broth together! They have bahn mi, but I can't give up the pho to try it!

What a view! Drive up above Boone to this park and take a look at grand vistas! It's the closes place to Boone with a stellar view, and there's no hike to get there- especially good for folks with limited mobility. Closed for the winter, so check the dates before you head up!

Gem mining is a big part of the high country! Doc is the best- the only place in the high country certified in education! Doc is a Veteran and has a degree in geology. He employs many App students and focuses on education and quality experiences! He and his wife are amazing gem cutters- I've had many gems cut by them and am always so happy! Find a gem and have it cut for a special keepsake! Check out their website for rock hunt trips! Go there to mine and stop in their snack shop and see the fossil museum!
