This may be a good solution to save time and money: ask me details!

If you plan to do grocery shopping in Verona remember that markets close at 19.30 or 20.00! Usually they open at 8.00 or 9.00 in the morning. The one just behind the apartment is closed on Sunday.

At the bar/osteria in front of the apartment, every Tuesday there is an interesting event: after 9pm students from other countries and people that want to meet someone new go there to talk in English or other languages. Some food is also provided for free (chips, tartine, olives) and there is a friendly ambient. Moreover it’s a really cheap bar if you want to drink or eat something. Usually on Friday or Saturday they have live music events often with jazz and rock music: ask me the event list!

Few meters from the apartment, at Rivamancina bar, after 7pm there is the happy hour all you can eat at 3€ + drinks that you will pay. Usually they have some pasta and other simple stuff. A good way to save money if you have already decided to go out for a drink and for you is enough to fulfill your stomach.

Under a bank in Piazza Nogara, you can see a beautiful mosaic that was the floor of a domus romana. It was a privat house built in the I sec a.C. and renovated between II-III sec d.C. No ticket but better to ask if it’s possible to visit it before to go: let me know if you want to go and I will ask them!

There is an ancient well near Piazza Erbe, in vicolo Pozzo San Marco, linked to a sad romantic legend: a young soldier who had fallen in love with the beautiful Isabella Donati. She seemed not to reciprocate the love and so, after a lot of trying, once they met at the well, he told her that she seemed cold like winter water. She challenged him to jump down to try the water and he sad obeyed. In reality she loved him and so desperately she threw her self down to stay with him forever.

Here in Verona there is the “Club di Giulietta”, maybe you heard about it in some movies, that answer to every single person of 50.000/year who send a letter to Giulietta. They kept the letters in an archive that will preserve forever every single love story and romantic word people from all over the world share with Giulietta. You will enter in 2 but only one will pay in civic museums. Ask me the list!

Our Roman Theatre is the largest in northern Italy and was built at the time of Augustus. Statues that originally decorated the Theatre are now in the museum situated in a 15th century Jesuati Monastery. The 10th century church is open from Thursday to Sunday, 10am-5.30pm). From October to may the 1st Sunday of the month the unique ticket is 1€ (exempt if there are expositions)! ATTENTION the museum now may be closed for maintenance: if so, ticket for the Roman Theatre should be only 1€.

Did you realize you forgot home a cute outfit for your evenings in Italy? Did you expected more cold and now you don’t know what to wear? Do you absolutely need a warmer sweater? Don’t worry! In front of the apartment there is a super cheap shop that is waiting for you!

On 21 February there will be the carnival parade in Verona with masks, music and dances! Don’t miss it and eat “gnocchi” with Verona’s people! Ask me more info about it!

On 23 February, at 2pm, there will the Tomaso da Vico historical parade with more than 100 horses from Corso Cavour to San Zeno.

During the all winter time you must try “bollito con pearà” especially if it is served on the typical cart! Also “polenta” served with “osei” (birds) or mushrooms, cheese and “soppressa” (a soft kind of our salami). In Christmas period we eat “pandoro” 💕 a soft leaven cake or “panettone”. During carnival we eat “fritole” and “galani” (that can also be called “grostoli” o “bugie”), sweet fried goodness, and “gnocchi”, made with potatoes and flour, that you can find with different kind of dressing (tomatoes souce, meat, sugar and cinnamon, ....). Try them in our restaurants!

Often tourists come here without anything for the rain, but trust me: our weather is beautiful but we have also rain! You will find a lot of people that will try to sell you expensive poncho or umbrella, better to come with a small one in your bag.

The touristic office is behind the Arena.

You can rent bikes or scooters that you can find all around the city and then leave them almost everywhere. It’s a really good way to move around and it’s cheap. More info in your room!

Near the apartment there is another language exchange event! Ask me more details if you want to meet new people in Verona! Mine is the better area for this purpose: here live most friendly young people interested in culture, arts, travels, meeting new people, cooperation and inclusiveness! Try it!

Near the apartment, in the afternoon, there will be another piece of carnival with masks, music and traditional minestrone!

In San Zeno there is the Carnival village till 24th February, with food and more. At 21.00 music!
