This is a quaint village within a castle wall where you can eat, listen to music and visit art and crafts galeries (the cultural offer is rather rich in the summer) and walk around the narrow and flower-filled streets. An absolute favorite of mine!

This is the closest city to Foz do Arelho. It has everything you might want in terms of shopping/laundry/medical needs. It is also a beautiful old city, where you can take a nice walk through the historical center. Be sure not the miss the daily market (go in the morning) at Praça da República, as it has a very good offering of fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, etc. and do visit the Parque Municipal, which is a lovely green area, perfect for a walk or boat ride.

This is an architectural masterpiece from the 14th century. If you want to learn about the history and/or architecture of Portugal, I highly recommend a visit here. The carved stone is striking. It is 45min away from the apartment so I would do this along with a day trip to Nazaré, for example.

An overcrowded but nonetheless historical fishing village - a very typical tourist spot offering a great view of the bay. I suggest taking the old elevator up to the top of the hill in order to learn about the history of the place and take a good look at the beach and ocean. I would not expect to be able to park near the beach...

In addition to being a popular spot for Portuguese people and tourists alike, this is a very calm beach, perfect for children, as it has no waves.
