Bus service

Parking in downtown Queenstown is limited. There is great bus service into town with a bus stop locate just below on the main road. Busses stop there every 15mins during the day and every 30mins after 7pm up to midnight. If you get a GO card (available on the bus) and charge it with money, each ride is only $2.00. You can find the timetable online if you search ‘Orbus Queenstown’.

New Year’s Eve fireworks

There is a firework display at midnight on New Years Eve which is set up on the water at Queenstown Bay (right downtown). Good viewing is from the beach, the wharf or the gardens but also from the roads that lead up Queenstown hill from the traffic lights. It’s usually very busy in town for the fireworks and car parking is limited and the buses are super crowded from about 10:30/11pm onwards. Have a bit of time up your sleeve if you’re going to town at that time.
