My favorite, No frills italian restaurant. Get here during the day to get a seat and DO NOT ask too many questions. Gaia, the owner of the place is very particular about the way she runs the place. Tables are only for full parties, you cannot reserve during the day, no salt or pepper for any of the food. You take it how she gives it. IF you want to come for dinner, call early in the morning to book a table! SO GOOD that I come here at least once a month.

When I crave shanghai dumplings, I don't bother with Joe's. I come here. Joe's is often overcrowded, you have to share a table and the soup dumplings aren't even that good! I definitely prefer the crab soup dumplings here to Joe's.

Everyone who has been in Chinatown knows about this place. My dad even knows about this place. I know. The thought of sponge cakes sounds so weird, but honestly, these are SOOOO SOFT and good and they only cost 75c! Definitely worth a try. Plus you can hang out with the chinese grannies. haha

Tiny little place, but fantastic service and THE best drinks specializing in bitters. Very yummy and quite classy considering you're in the East Village.
