Newport Peninsula

Newport Beach peninsula's most active establishments, known for their great social culture & catered for anyone 21 years old and up.
This walk-to Irish Pub is a staple to the Newport Beach Peninsula and known as the Lifeguard's Bar. Famous for being one of the most active bars, this is a great place to get a taste of the Newport night culture. Many age demographics frequent this place, however, it is most popular with a younger (21 - 25 year old) crowd. Their breakfast is great! They have a great selection and "The Kitchen Sink Breakfast Burrito" is arguably one of the best breakfast burritos in Newport Beach.

Great night life scene that is most popular with a younger (21 - 25 year old) crowd. I recommend showing up before 10:30pm otherwise you will find yourself in a very long line that moves relatively slow.

This is Newport Beach Peninsula's first and oldest drinking parlor. It may be slightly hard to find if you are not familiar with the area... it's not on the boardwalk, and it's not on the street. Instead it sits right in the middle of the two inside an old brick and mortar building. With live music almost every night, this is certainly a place for the party rockers that want to groove and relive the glory days with some classic rock from 80s and 90s cover bands. Be mindful, there is a cash only $5 cover charge.

Formerly known as Newport Brew Co. this newly renovated brewery is the peninsula's only distillery. Fresh beers on tap are good, but they also offer great cocktails and food. Entrance is at the back of the building and is located across the street from Malarkey's Irish Pub on 30th street.

Surfs Up

Popular surf destinations for the adventurous type. Please check the surf condition before going into the water and make sure you are a strong enough swimmer. Newport Beach can very often have strong rip currents. Additionally, please be mindful of stingrays; Newport Beach has many. Google "stingray shuffle" to prevent a visit to the lifeguard medic center.
For the more advance surfer, this is a local favorite. Every now and than you'll see some pro surfers in the water perfecting their line. Spectators are always welcomed, but many of the locals don't appreciate tourists in these waters. Especially those who may not fully understand surf etiquette and culture. But if you can hold your own in heavy waves, strong currents, and competitive attitudes, than this is the spot for you. Short boards are recommended for this surf Destination. Known as "Blackies" this surf is perfect for the neophyte. The waves are typically smaller, and the crowd in the water is friendly. Also, the paddle out is very modest making it the perfect place to learn how to surf or sharpen your skills before transitioning to the next level. Longboards for this surf is recomended. "The Point" is a fun place to surf for the intermediate surfer. The waves break fast but are fun to ride. Be mindful of strong rip currents from time to time. This is another popular destination favored by many locals. Also, make sure you don't ride alone. There are no jetties in this area making the waters more prone to being pulled out by a rip tide. I personally have saved two different people while surfing this location. A short board is recommended for this particular break. Let's Eat!

A collection of local favorites that will be sure to please even the most discerning foodies.
Arguably one of the best Italian restaurants on the peninsula, this is a long time establishment that isn't going anywhere soon. The food is stellar - order "the pink sauce" with your meal and enjoy this family style environment. They don't take reservations and during popular diner times the wait could be up to 2 hours. Luckily they serve beverages and small bites while you wait. I recommend, come early, sign in, and come back 15 minutes before your estimated seating time.

With casual surfer vibes, this local seafood spot has rightfully earned its reputation as one of Newport's greatest! Pretty much everything on the menu is amazing, but their claim to fame is the Tuna Poke. If you're a first timer, trust the locals and order the Poke - you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for great Mexican food, cold beers on tap, and casual dining, then look no further. What makes this place unique is the self pour taps (you pour your own beers). On Tuesdays, a Mariachi band comes through to entertain it's guest and create a vibrate scene teaming with Mexican flair.

With the spirit of Thailand, this is a great place to satisfy your worldly cravings. Everything on the menu is great and this mom and pop restaurant will not disappoint. The seating is limited and relatively small. However, they do take out so you can enjoy the spices of life on the beach or back at home.
