If you are looking to eat out for dinner or breakfast I would 100% recommend a 5 minute drive (or $12 Uber) to palm cove esplanade.
Take a stroll along the esplanade and choose a restaurant that pleases. There’s plenty of restaurants of all cuisines at both northern and southern ends of the esplanade

There’s many ways to see the reef the easiest and cheapest two ways are to do a day trip to Fitzroy island or Green island
Otherwise you will find better reef if you book in a day trip with the companies which that take you to the outer reef pontoons
