Pothia is the capital and the main port of Kalymnos. This is where most of the local population lives, a population of about 10,000. If you stroll around the small streets, some maze like, you will discover beautiful old homes with marble balconies, small churches, interesting shops, etc. There’s also a plethora of modern amenities, most of which are found on the main road of Pothia like shops, banks, a cultural centre, small bars and cafes and tavernas. The main attractions of Pothia are the museums, such as the Folklore Museum, the Archeological Museum, and the Maritime Museum. Also, it well worth visiting the Church of Christ by City Hall, and not far from the center is the Chryssoheria Castle and Kefala Cave.
