Neighbourhoods

This neighbourhood, also known locally at "The Village" is a super vibrant and fun area to spend time in. It is the central hub for PRIDE Toronto festivities every year for the month of June every year. There's a wide variety of restaurants within a block walk down Maitland Street towards Church Street or a few steps to Yonge Street. You can catch a drag show, get your hair done, shop, and more! The Wellesley subway station is steps away from the condo across the parking lot.

The Village is steps away and is a great area for food, shopping and entertainment. Catch a drag show at Crews and Tango in the evening or dance the night away at one of the many clubs on the street. There's great shopping such as Out on the Street or one of the sexy shops.

This is my favourite local restaurant - think Japanese Tapas. Book a reservation as it gets busy. Super cute back patio. It is small but lovely!

Not a "market" per se except on one Sunday a month in the summer when the streets are closed to pedestrians only. Kensington is home to great restaurants, vintage shops, food shops, brew pubs, specialty stores etc. A must visit!

St. Lawrence Market - this is an AMAZING farmers and food market. While this is open during the week, if you go on Saturday there is an addition local market that's open - this is where the BEST stuff from local farmers is, so hit it first. Having said this, the cheese shops, butchers and fish mongers in the main market are AMAZING. Eat your way through the market and bring home stuff for dinner as well! There's awesome prepared food in both the upper and lower levels of the market.

Sightseeing

Take the ferry, or, preferably take the Pirate or Tiki Taxi over to the Island which is home of tons of park space, biking trails, and several beaches including the clothing optional beach on Hanlan's Point! You can rent bikes, kayaks and canoes on the island (but you may wish to book in advance on the island). There's also an amusement park on the island. A little cheesy but young kids enjoy this.

Consejos para la ciudad

Cómo moverse

The TTC is the best way to get around!

You can buy a Presto pass and load it up with $ so you simply need to tap it on buses and the subway! If you choose to pay as you go, there are special single day rates on weekends.

Getting to Toronto Island

While the ferry is the cheapest way to get across, for only a little more $ and a ton more convenience (no need to book in advance, wait in lines, or wait for the ferry) you can jump on one of the many water taxis that go across to the island. If you are going to do this a lot, some of the companies, like Tiki Taxi and Pirate have passes you can buy that reduce the cost per trip.
