Ivy Hill was previously site to the 27 acre estate of FM "Borax" Smith, called "Arbor Villa". The trees lining 9th avenue are remnants of the old property boundary. In the late 20's, the site was parceled off to builders who built homes, apartment buildings, and duplexes. The building you are staying in borders the original driveway of the borax smith estate.
