City/town information

Abergavenny is known as the Food Capital of Wales and the Gateway to the Brecon Beacons. It is a bustling market town with a pedestrianised town centre, a variety of shops (many of them independents) and an abundance of restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. It sits in beautiful walking and cycling country and is surrounded by three mountains; Sugarloaf, Skirrid and Blorenge. https://www.visitwales.com/destinations/south-wales/wye-valley-and-vale-usk/things-do-and-around-abergavenny

Walk in the steep-sided woodland and marvel at the dramatic waterfalls in the Clydach Gorge or cycle up the Clydach Gorge cycle path which follows a gentle gradient all the way from Abergavenny to Brynmawr. Access the railway path at Govilon where it crosses the canal.

Visible from the cottage garden and courtyard, Sugarloaf is one of the three mountains surrounding Abergavenny and is covered in paths. My favourite walking route is a loop from the small car park at Porth-y-parc, through Parc Lodge Farm to the peak and back through St Mary's Vale
