This Holy well has been visited for centuries by people on a healing pilgrimage. People believed the fresh waters to be healing and would bring sick children and people suffering with ailments here to be healed. Its a real treasure and special place.
Its situated on the equally fabulous Holywell Beach ( a 20 minute drive from the cottage). As you enter the beach you turn right at the sea, its quite a walk to the far right of the beach in a cave. There are steps indented in the rock that allows you to climb up. They can be quite slippery so be cautious. The well is only accessible at a low tide , so make sure you check the tide times ( magic seaweed app , best for this), prior to going.
Or alternatively just soak up the beach and amazing sand dunes Holywell beach has to offer.
Holywell beach has been a favourite filming location and Poldark fans will instantly recognise the rock formations in the background.
Its national trust land, so members park for free.
Its a must see for visitors to Newquay.

Crantock is a 10-15 minute drive from the cottage. It has a national trust carpark ( with toilets) , so members park free.
You can hire boards, SUPs and Kayaks there, as the estuary is also very beautiful and a great place to swim. On some days the turquoise waters could be the Caribbean. Crantock also has surf.
It's very popular so get there early. There are ice cream vendors and a fantastic cafe called 'The fern pit cafe' which isa climb up the opposite side of the estuary. In low tide you can walk across the little wooden bridge. High tide there is a cute ferry boat that will take you across for a small fee ( so take some cash).
The Fern pit cafe is famous for its crab sandwiches , lobster and stunning view of Crantock and the Estuary.

The bay is stunning and the best place to surf, you can hire surf equipment and Fistral always has an upbeat energy.
There are surf competitions in the summer and the world famous board masters festival is hosted here in August with lots of stalls and entertainment as well as world class surfers.

Gets very busy in summer but great for a quick dip...surf hire available and a new coconut shack, selling fresh coconuts is a great refreshing treat. 12 Beach Road, is a restaurant that overlooks Towan. It sells good food and cocktails but again book in advance in the summer.

Famous for its artist connection... . Portminister beach and the harbour are quite wonderful. Resident seal at harbour. Boat trips to Seal island and Tate St Ives area just a few of the things to do here. Or get lost in the back street galleries and independent shops wondering through the cobbled streets.

This is one of the best beaches in the world.
An hours drive South from the cottage. Its white sand and turquoise waters are Caribbean in their appearance. The sea is not as warm though. It is a nudist beach too and the track down is not for the faint hearted. Its an almost vertical rock climb down. This puts off a lot of people and adds to this secluded paradise when you have made it down !

An hours drive South from the cottage. Its white sand and turquoise waters are Caribbean in their appearance. The sea is not as warm though. It is a nudist beach too and the track down is not for the faint hearted. Its an almost vertical rock climb down. This puts off a lot of people and adds to this secluded paradise when you have made it down !

The harbour is a short stroll down through the town and has several funky foods stalls with worldwide cuisine. There is a restaurant with a large veranda to sit and take in the views. Also a nice swim spot and if you are lucky you might catch the resident harbour seal!

By far the best fish and chips in Newquay! A small stroll down the Marcus hill opposite the cottage. Their mini food boxes are great value ( approx £5;20) and I recommended the cod bites!

This is a wonderful pit stop from the main high street. Lovely staff and raw deserts. Fresh food every day... highly recommend. Cute courtyard to escape in too!
