Great restaurant, close to home! 3 minutes away, great selection of Island dishes, friendly staff - and an awesome view of the Cardigan Marina from the deck.

Georgetown's trophy restaurant - right on the Brudenell River. Great fresh seafood, live music some nights on the deck (call them for details)... finish up with a walk along the boardwalk!

One of two local microbreweries in Montague - a large selection of beers, two restaurants under one roof and a new outdoor eating area makes Bogside a great stop. (tip: try the crispy chicken sandwich with a glass of Lighthorse Lagered Ale!)

Lobster suppers are their specialty - but Cardigan Lobster Suppers/1888 Pub has a great selection of sandwiches and other East Coast delicacies. And, it's ultra-close - right at the top of Shore Road.

Set right on the bank of the Montague River, this is an excellent place to grab a quick lunch or leisurely sit-down dinner on a visit into Montague. We've sampled many items from their menu and have yet to be disappointed!

City/town information

Montague is the largest local town - and the place to stock up on groceries and more. Cute little shops and art galleries to explore - and a larger liquor store than the one you'll find in Cardigan by far!

Pretty little riverside town, less than 10 minutes away. There are a few places to eat (see The Wheelhouse description in this guide), local artisan shops on Water Street, the King's Playhouse for theatre and art to explore. Head down at low tide and walk along the beach - or go at high tide and go for a swim!

Sightseeing

About 25 minutes away, this ocean town is home to Souris's Historic Lighthouse, restaurants, shopping, beaches (the home of Basin Head, and others) - definitely worth a drive on a nice day!

Shopping

When you've finished dining at Windows on the Water, directly across the river on the other bank is Artisans... local artists exhibit their wares here - art, local made soaps, jams and such - if its handmade, its here. Definitely worth a visit.

The Cardigan Farmer's Market

Just up the road - you will have likely passed it on the way to the house - is an old railway station that is now home to the Cardigan Farmer's Market. If you're in the area on Friday/Saturday from 10am-2pm, check it out! Fresh produce, baked goods - and the grilled cheese sandwiches from the Polehouse Cafe in the rear of the market are both outstanding and habit-forming.
