Niagara Falls are located near Podgorica and represent the right place for enjoyment and rest. The waterfalls are located on the Cijevna River, only 4 km away from the capital, and the name Niagara Falls was given to it by the local population due to the similarity with the famous waterfalls. The waterfalls were "built" 150 years ago for the needs of an active mill. The river destroyed the waterfalls twice, because of the mills that were installed there. The torrent carried everything before it during the winter months, and the locals did not know how to solve the problem. Legend has it that during the third construction, an old woman appeared and advised the builders to put sheep's wool between the stones they were laying. After listening to the old woman's advice, the waterfalls remained in the same place until today, although the mills have long since disappeared. In the summer months, when the power of the river decreases, it is possible to see the stone slabs from which the waterfalls were built. The waterfalls are part of the Cijevna canyon, and visitors who visit the waterfalls are delighted. The canyon of the river Cijevna is one of the most beautiful in Montenegro, thanks to the beautiful nature, narrow passages, large stones and the plain that surrounds it. Niagara Falls are only 4km away from Podgorica. You can reach them by car, city bus or taxi. On the Internet, you can find information about bus lines that drive to the "Kuce Rakica" station, which is located near the waterfall.
