Chateau de Hautefort, 10 minutes drive from Les Taloches, sits perched high above the beautiful town of Hautefort. The old medieval fortress, probably built on the site of a Roman camp, was transformed into country residence in the 17th century. The interior contains a collection of furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries.
In the 19th century, the renowned landscape architect the Count of Choulot designed the French gardens surrounding the castle and created the English-style park, which offers varied views of the countryside and the surrounding villages.

Perigueux, the capital of the Dordogne is not to be missed. Just 40 mins drive from Les Taloches it has a beautiful old town, fabulous restaurants, cafes and shops plus you can climb to the top of the Cathedral and take in the views across the valley.

A plus beaux village, and just 30 minutes drive from Les Taloches. Stunning village which holds an annual flower festival in May. There are lots of choices for places to eat, or take a picnic and sit by the gentle river that flows through the heart of the village.

The river Vezere flows through the village, offering kayaking opportunities. Nearby is Saint Leon sur Vezere, one of France's most beautiful villages and the Chateau de Losse just 5 km away is a small but charming castle on the banks of the Vezere river.

The original caves (over 18,000 years old) were discovered in 1940 and whilst the original caves were closed to the public in 1963, you can now visit a complete replica.

Throughout July & August most towns & villages host weekly summer night markets, offering food, music, entertainment in the most beautiful of settings. Here in the Dordogne, there are plenty to choose from...large city ones such as Perigueux or small intimate ones such as Saint-Robert (in the Correze).
