A local favorite for authentic local comfort food --Spam & eggs, "plate lunch" and more! Located in Laie just of the Kam Highway, it's hard to find, but worth the hunt. It was even featured in "Man vs Food" on the Travel Channel. (No, it's not the same restaurant as the one in the movie "50 First Dates").

Located in Waimea Valley just to the north, right across the street from Waimea Bay. Since April 2009 this market has been a fun community gathering-place reflective of the uniqueness of the North Shore. Every week locals and visitors alike gather to celebrate and to fill up on fresh locally grown produce, listen to live music, watch the kids make free arts & crafts, and soak up the North Shore vibe. The food here is better than you'll find at many restaurants, at half the price! Make sure to try out the custom Poke Bowls--they're delicious! Thursdays 2:00-6:00, rain or shine… tsunami, maybe not.

A local favorite! Great food, nice wine selection, and a friendly atmosphere & staff. It's usually pretty busy around dinnertime, so call ahead or be prepared to sit at the bar for a few while you wait for a table. Don't let that scare you, though--busy means it's GOOD! :)

Lively place to gather with friends. It's not uncommon to spot local celebrities/world-renowned surfers here, especially when the swell is in. Located inside the hotel, Surfer offers food and great drinks--try the "Monkey's Lunch"--a great creamy tropical blended drink. They have karaoke some nights.

Just start driving! The Kamehameha Highway, known to locals simply as "The Kam", starts south in Kaneohe & wraps all the way up the Windward (east) side of Oahu, up and around the north shore, ending in Haleiwa. There are numerous places to stop for a view, road-side produce, shops, etc.

The blowhole is a natural occurrence formed by molten lava tubes from volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. The lava tubes run to the ocean and, when the surf is right, the blowhole shoots water up to 30 feet in the air. The larger the waves, the larger the spray! Do not go near the blow hole; view from look out area only!

Sharks Cove has been rated by Scuba Diving Magazine as one of the "Top Twelve Shore Dives in the World". It can get a little crowded on occasion, but I highly doubt you’ll notice when you’re in the water. Because it's located between the famed big wave surf spots of Waimea Bay and the Banzai Pipeline, you’ll have to make sure there are no large swells that day. October through April is considered Hawaii’s surf season, with waves peaking between December and February, so the summer months are the best time to snorkel Sharks Cove. Children aren't recommended. Parking fills up quick, so show up early or you'll have to hunt for another spot or try & sneak into the Foodland parking lot without

Breath taking! Take a long easy hike (really more of a walk) through the tropical botanical gardens to Waimea Falls. Bring your swimsuit and pay a small fee to use a life-jacket and swim in the pool under the falls. It's one of the most meticulously-maintained, beautiful spots on the North Shore.
