Food Scene

Bosco, in the main square, is our go-to, can’t go wrong Italian restaurant. It is a local, independent restaurant that serves great pasta, pizza, risottos etc. and has a nice little kids menu. Mine devour the tomato pesto bread. I love the risotto verde. Ask lovely Anna the manager to reserve you the table in the window!

Drinks & Nightlife

I love this bar, the bartenders are superb and, although small, I think its the best music to dance too. Velvetine next door may look fancier but Ambience is my favourite. There is also a lovely little restaurant upstairs that not many people know about.

Parks & Nature

Park View is a superb park and people travel far and wide to come to it. It has a popular sand and water play (take a towel and swim clothes / spare clothes…), a park for little ones, and an area for the older kids with a zip wire, a bmx track and a skate park. There is also a simple cafe and an ice cream hut.

A beautiful old manor house (albeit in need of a lick of paint) with some nice walks in the woods. Buy a map for £2 from the lovely tearooms and it instantly makes the walk more interesting as you hunt for fairy doors (currently with an Alice in wonderland theme). My 5 year old loves doing this and he’s not usually a walker! There are more and more great events going on at Lytham hall so its worth checking out their Facebook page.

Entertainment & Activities

This is one of our favourite days out. It’s so well maintained and Nickelodeon Land is perfect for under 7s - there' also quite a few good rides that little ones can do in the main park. You can either buy a wristband (full price £30) or pay £6 for entry into the park and then buy tickets (childrens rides usually from £3, up to £9/10 for the most popular rides). Wristbands are far cheaper if booked in advance. 10 days in advance is usually the cheapest option but even booking the night before you can save yourself £8 per wristband. The Hot Ice show at the Pleasure beach has excellent reviews. And we love the pizza restaurant. More info on the Pleasure Beach in our guest book at the flat.

This relatively new addition to Blackpool can be found not far from the motorway (near B&Q) and its superb, every child I’ve seen has absolutely loved it. In fact my husband wishes that he’d joined in when he went. Suitable for age 4 and up.

Blackpool zoo is a firm favourite for me on a busy and sunny summer holiday day. Even when the overflow car park is heaving its fall more bearable than many other options, purely because of the amount of space to explore. It’s very well kept and a pleasant place to walk around.

The trams rum from squires gate all the way up past cleveleys and its a great way to travel. ITs especially fun during the illuminations when many trams are lit up as trains or boats. The illuminations are fun but prepare to sit in a lot of traffic. One way to experience them is to book in to the very smart and retro ‘White Tower’ restaurant at the pleasure beach. Delicious food and great views.
