Santa Cruz beach is still a popular spot but less cosmopolitan than the beaches in the Sintra area. The beach itself is a huge stretch of beautiful sand backing on to the village of Santa Cruz at the southern end. At one end of the beach is a huge triangular shaped rock with an arch running under it. There are plenty of facilities and the Santa Cruz has frequently received the prized Blue Flag award. Facing directly into the Atlantic Ocean the beach here may not be the best spot to take a swim, it is however a great surf spot. If Ericeira is too small then it is often worth the drive up the coast to check out this quality beachbreak.

Lisbon is a city that makes you want to go exploring, to discover whatever might appear in every neighbourhood, on every street. It’s a safe and friendly city, relatively small but with so much to see. It’s an ideal place to spend a few days or as a starting point for touring the country. It’s old. It’s modern. It is, without doubt, always surprising. The range is wide: Roman Lisbon, Manueline, Baroque or Romantic Lisbon, literary Lisbon, the Lisbon of Bohemian nightlife, the city of Fado. And there are also very different ways of exploring: by foot, by tram, by segway, by hop-on-hop-off bus, in a tuk tuk, seen from the river on a boat trip.

Troia Golf Course is a spectacular links, and one of the most fascinating golf challenges in Portugal . The magazine Golf World elected in 2003, as the 25th best European Golf Course. The usual approach to the golf course is straight over the Estuary of the Sado River - a pleasant short ferry ride from Setubal to the Peninsula of Troia, a region of great natural beauty near the Atlantic Ocean. The greens are small with naturally shaped defensive bunkers and hummocks, while the fairways are narrow and hemmed in by sandy dunes and pine trees, providing a genuine test of skill for the lower handicap golfers together with enjoyment for the more modest players.
