Bun Dau Mam Tom is another typical dish of the locals. “bún đậu mắm tôm” comprises of noodles “bún”, tofu “đậu”, shrimp paste “mắm tôm” and, last but not least, odoriferous herbs “rau thơm”. In the foreigner perspective, Shrimp paste has a very irritating smell or an " eye watery smell", some of them might consider this as "inedible food". despite the smell, it pairs so well with the dish. There is a slight alteration that anybody who hates shrimp paste can still enjoy the dish, it is a fish sauce but "Bun Dau Mam Tom" will not be the same without shrimp paste.
