Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. On her journey from Trepassey, her Fokker Tri Motor sea plane "friendship" landed a mile or so East of Burry Port Harbour at Pwll slip. She later went on to dissapear mysteriously and has been the focus of one of the most extensive "manhunts" ever undertaken. Theories of her dissapearance range from her being an American spy captured by the Japanese, to her being washed up on a desert island and eaten by crabs. One thing is true though and that is that Amelia Earhart was an extremely brave and inspiring person.
