A short hike up an old road to a firetower. The firetower is open only TWO weekends a year during fall foliage season. One way is about 0.5-0.75 miles. The trail is wide and short but does go pretty much directly up. The views from the firetower are beautiful in season and are hosted by a local guide who can help you know what you're looking out at! The top by the firetower is grassy so make sure to check for ticks after you are back down. But there is the potential for blackberries during the late summer! There is a short trail that also leads down from the firetower to one of the peaks of Pat's Peak Ski Area. The view from there is somewhat limited but makes for a nice extension on the hike. Our 5 year old was able to do this hike independently (with plenty of encouragement :-)) and our 2.5 year old did probably about half of it on her own.
