Ynyslas beach & sand dunes are walking distance from Borth (1 stop on train from Aberystwyth), and are truly stunning! The golden sands will make you feel exotic when basking in the warmth, and are a nature lover’s paradise. The estuary overlooks Aberdovey opposite. This is a fabulous quiet spot away from chaos of busy places. Borth beach also is famous for it’s 5000yr old remains of tree stumps in the sand which can be seen at low tide, as it was previously a woodland once upon a time!

3. The Ynys-Las sand dunes forms part of a protected nature reserve and is the largest sand dune in West Wales. It is also next to a beautiful river estuary which overlooks the Dyfi River and Aberdyfi on the other side of the water. A great option at any time of the year and very accessible. You can walk 3 miles to reach it along the beach from Y Wern heading North, if not drive straight down the road all the way to the end and park your car in the large estuary-based car park. Wander and wonder! The circular walk taking in the coastal scenery and passing across the sand dunes is heartily recommended.
