If you want to head a bit more into the mountains, it’s a beautiful drive up the canyon and a cool funky town to spend a day in. The Carousel of Happiness is … happy!
Funky little mountain town with some cool shops and places to eat and nearby recreation.
Nederland is one of the oldest mining towns in Colorado. Sitting at 8,500 feet, on Barker Reservoir and on the edge of Indian Peaks Wilderness. From its boutique coffee shops, lovely farmers markets, to its stunning trails and hiking vistas, Nederland has kept its charm, while offering so much to its visitors.
Nederland is perhaps best known for it's annual Frozen Dead Guy Days festival held every March to pay homage to the dead guy named Bredo Morstoel who's kept on dry ice in a shed in town so that you should give you a pretty good idea of this off beaten path mountain town's quirky character & charm. Just a quick 1 hr. drive from Denver.
