If traveling with kids, this is a must visit. The wooden swing sets made with branches, a huge sandbox pit, large rocks to climb on, a mud kitchen, and (most unique) a creek kids are welcome to play in (and more) that sits behind the Natural History Center on Route 151 south of Nellysford is awesome.
Great natural playground with hiking trails. The adjoining Rockfish Valley Foundation - Nature Center is open on weekends and has a great space for children with the natural history theme.
35 acres located at the intersection of 151 and Glenthorne Loop. It contains the Rockfish Valley Foundation Natural History Museum and three trails: The Children's Nature Trail, The Butterfly Trail, And The Birding Trail.
Families around Wintergreen, Nelson County, and beyond are in agreement: The wooden swing sets made with branches, a huge sandbox pit, large rocks to climb on, a mud kitchen and creek kids are welcome to play in that sits behind the Natural History Center is awesome. The playground is open every day, from dawn to dusk.
