Gratz Park has a variety of beautiful architecture. It has a park, and interestingly, was the headquarters of both the Union and the Confederacy during the Civil War. The Confederacy was in the Hunt Morgan House, and the Union was in the Bodley Bullock House. Hunt Morgan is open for tours. Bodley Bullock rents out for events. Both have lovely gardens.
Gratz Park is a neighborhood and historic district that is just a block away from the Airbnb. It was named after early Lexington businessman Benjamin Gratz whose home stands on the corner of Mill and New streets at the edge of Gratz Park. I love to wander around this square, of beautiful historic houses. It’s a very peaceful part of downtown and a great place to sit and read a book.

A small area of beautiful historic homes bounded by the historic Carnegie Center (a former Carnegie Library) to the south and Old Morrison, a historic, architecturally significant building on the campus of Transylvania University. Close to Campsie Place, close to downtown, close to amenities, beautiful in all seasons.
