You must visit the temple of Afaia.The Temple of Aphaia (Greek: Ναός Αφαίας) or Afea[1] is located within a sanctuary complex dedicated to the goddess Aphaia on the Greek island of Aigina, which lies in the Saronic Gulf. Formerly known as the Temple of Jupiter Panhellenius, the great Doric temple is now recognized as dedicated to the mother-goddess Aphaia. It was a favourite of the Neoclassical and Romantic artists such as J. M. W. Turner. It stands on a c. 160 m peak on the eastern side of the island approximately 13 km east by road from the main port.[2]

Temple of Afaia is situated right in the middle of the island, on the height of some 160 m on the hill among finest pristine pine-tree woods and beautiful nature. Temple can be seen from a long distance, a shining white columned building embedded in greens. Temple was built in ca 500 BC to the goddess Afaia, who was venerated only here. There is small admission fee for this site, which includes also admission to Museum on site. The whole area is not very large, so can be explored in some one hour.
